Revelator
Bio
Joshua Revelator Medsker grew up in Brownsburg, Indiana. At a young age he got involved in drugs and started down a path of destruction. Josh was regularly using and selling drugs and his senior year he dropped out of High School. The appeal of the fast life had him chasing the riches of this world but always left him feeling empty. By the grace of God at age 19 Josh came to Christ and was freed from the lifestyle of addiction that always took but never gave back. God birthed a passion in his heart for music and he has been producing and rapping for over six years. Apart from producing, rapping, and performing Josh and his wife are over the youth ministry at their home church in Brownsburg. His passion for music has him continually growing and pushing himself to take his music to the next level.
I chose the name Revelator because one of the definitions of revelation is, ìAn act of revealing or communicating a divine truth.î I had heard of John the apostle, who wrote the book of Revelation and referred to as John the Revelator, and at the time I was still looking for the right name to go along with what I was doing. When I heard that, it hit me because really what Iím trying to do with this music is to reveal the truth of God to people. So I chose the name Revelator because I want to reveal or communicate the divine truth of scripture and the message of Jesus Christ through this music.
The reason I rap, really, is to reach out. To spread the word of God with this music in a way that people can understand and relate to. Hip Hop is everywhere, in the city in the suburbs, in poor neighborhoods, in wealthy neighborhoods, itís all over television and the radio, but the message thatís being spread is impacting our generation in a negative way. So Iím trying to use the avenue of Hip Hop to spread the Gospel and to reach out to people who wouldnít come to a church service. Some people will never step foot in a church but they might come to a concert to hear their favorite genre of music. So itís basically a tool to draw people in who normally wouldnít listen to a gospel message. It also gives believers something positive to listen too that they can still feel and relate to. I might not look like your typical rapper but I know that God placed this gift in me for a reason, so I strive to be the best I can be and at the end of the day bring glory back to His name.
