SoFree Speaks: Letter 1
Watching the Lil Baby doc, I realized many of us didn’t have fathers in our life. Or they were present but not really Present. At the end of the doc when his son climbed on the couch with him to go to sleep it brought tears to my eyes. I start to thinking. I didn’t have that. I wanted that. In a household where affection wasn’t shown. No I love you. No hugs. No kisses. Only clothes and game systems. And of course the occasional whooping for really no reason. Lol. Moms did the best she could with what she had so I get it. She actually did great. I turned out cool. There’s many in the world who grew up the same way and even worse. There’s a scripture in the Bible that says He is a father to the fatherless. I began to meditate on that and see how much this is needed. I had mentors in my life. Men I could look to and see how they handled things. How they were with their children. How they were with there spouse. They weren’t at all perfect but they were a great example of how I would want it to be and how I wish I had it. I’m not the best with relationships. Still slightly standoffish. Cold at times. I know what I want to be and how I want to be and everyday I strive to be better. So when or if I get in that situation I know my children or step children or even children I mentor will be straight.
Father, thank you for your grace. Thank you for loving me and giving your only Son so that I can live and be free in You. I ask you to continue to show your love and that we may walk in it. Above all I pray we love each other deeply with an unfailing love, because love covers a multitude of sin. Father bless the youth. Those without fathers or even mothers. May they experience your love and know how much they are loved by You. Bless this day and keep us safe in You. Love. Amen.
Psalms 68:5
A father to the fatherless, a defender of widows,
is God in his holy dwelling.
